Doctor Strange is a science fiction film that came from a Marvel comic character. Doctor Strange is played by Benedict Cumberbatch and the director of the movie is Scott Derrickson. The movie was released on the 13th of October, 2016. The budget for the movie was 165 million USD and they made 677.7 million USD in the box office.
Marvel began thinking of making a film of Doctor Strange in 2005 when they acquired copyrights for it and in June 2010 they began writing a screenplay for it. In June 2014 Derrickson and Spaihts were hired to direct and re-write the film. In December 2014 Cumberbatch got the role and in November 2015 began the principal photography which then ended in April 2016. In August 2015 at the D23 Expo a concept trailer of the movie was shown. This was to give attention to the movie to start to get the targeted audience interested. On April 12, 2016 the first teaser trailer was shown on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'. As this show is really popular it got the movie a lot of attention. Since then Marvel have been releasing little sneak peeks to keep the audience excited for the movie. In 2016 the main actors in the movie attended Comic Con where they released the official trailer and an exclusive clip to attract an audience that would be interested in this movie. They did this at Comic Con as the people that go there are mainly interested in Marvel and DC comics and movies so this must have attracted a lot of people to want to watch the movie. Marvel also used social media as free publicity. They posted sneak peaks, made filters for Snapchat, stickers for Twitter, etc. |
